Words that Food Expressed (1)



Apple: 
(a) kind of hard round juicy fruit 
(b)anything resembling an apple in size and shape,as a ball especially a base ball (c) an ineffectively bowls ball (Bowling) (d) a red capsule containing a barbiturate, especially secobarbital (e) apple a day – a small preventive treatment wards off serious problems (f) road apple – a piece of horse manure; a brick or stone found in the rubble of the streets (g) to curry favour with (someone) (h) apples to oranges – making an unfair comparison (i) diarrhoea (j) one smart apple – a smart or clever person (k) rotten apple – a bad individual among many good ones especially that spoils the group  (l) apple of an eye - someone cherished above others

Banana: 
(a) long yellow tropical fruit 
(b) top banana – a leading comedian in musical comedy, etc.; the chief person in a group or undertaking (c) go bananas – to go mildly crazy 
Batter:
