Dhammapada 40 [Khuddaka Nikaya]


3 - Cittavagga, The Mind
6 - Pancasatabhikkhu Vatthu

Kumbhupamam kayamimam viditva, nagarupam cittamidam thapetva;
yodhetha maram panna vudhena, jitanca rakkhe anivesano siya.
40: Knowing that this body is (fragile) like an earthern jar, making one's mind secure like a fortified town, one should fight Mara with the weapon of Knowledge. (After defeating Mara) one should still continue to guard one's mind, and feel no attachment to that which has been gained (i.e., jhana ecstasy and serenity gained through meditation).

With your permission venerable sir, I ask for the Five Precepts with the Three Refuges. Out of compassion, please give me the precepts.
For the second time,
With your permission venerable sir, I ask for the Five Precepts with the Three Refuges. Out of compassion, please give me the precepts.
For the third time,
With your permission venerable sir, I ask for the Five Precepts with the Three Refuges. Out of compassion, please give me the precepts.
Bhante: Yamaham vadāmi tam vadetha.
Monk: What I recite you follow.
Upāsakā: Āma, bhante.
Laity: Yes, Venerable Sir.
Note:
For the Eight precepts, recite “atthanga samannagatam uposatha silam” instead of “pañca-sīlam”.
For the Eight precepts with Livelihood as the eighth, recite “ ājīva-tthamaka-sīlam” instead of “pañca-sīlam”.

38: If a man's mind is unsteady, if he is ignorant of the true Dhamma, and if his faith is wavering, then his knowledge will never be perfect.
39: If a man's mind is free from passion, if he is free from ill will, if he has abandoned both good and evil, and if he is vigilant, for such a man there is no danger.

ဂ႐ုစိုက္ /gaju. sai'/ v be careful, attentive or mindful; pay attention to. [Pali ဂ႐ု+Myan စိုက္]
ဂ႐ုျပဳ /gaju. pyu./ v be mindful; be careful; keep in mind.

Durangamam ekacaram, asariram guhasayam;
ye cittam samyamissanti, mokkhanti marabandhana.
37: The mind wanders far and moves about alone: it is non-material; it lies in the cave (chamber) of the heart. Those who control their mind will be free from the bonds of Mara.

ဘဝသံသရာ ႐ွည္လ်ားေထြျပား မေနမနား တသြားတည္း သြားၾကတာ၊ ခရီးပန္းတိုင္ မေရာက္မခ်င္း တစ္ေယာက္ဆင္း တစ္ေယာက္တက္ ဆက္လက္ထြက္ခြါလာ၊ ေလာဘရယ္ ေဒါသရယ္ ေမာဟရယ္ အဝိဇၨာ ပစၥယာ သခၤါရာတဲ့ ေပ်ာ္လိုက္႐ႊင္လိုက္ ငိုကာရယ္ကာ ဘယ္ဟာ မတည္ျမဲ ေဖါက္လွဲေဖါက္ျပန္ အေၾကာင္းကံ ကမၼသကာ။

မျဖစ္ခ်င္တာလည္းျဖစ္ရတာ၊ ျဖစ္ခ်င္ တာ ေတြလည္း မျဖစ္ရပါ မျဖစ္ခ်င္တာေတြလည္းျဖစ္ရတာ၊ သုံးဆယ့္တစ္ဘုံ ဝဋ္အတြင္းေရာက္ေတာ့ က႐ြတ္ကင္းေလွ်ာက္တဲ့ ေတဘုမၼာ အဲဒါ အဲဒါ အဲဒါ ဘဝသံသရာ။

Stay Far Away
Relating to companion, the Buddha taught that one should avoid:
Thirty feet away from animals with horns such as buffalo, cow, gaur and deer.
One hundred and fifty feet away from animals which stamp with front feet and kick with hind feet.
One thousand and five hundred feet away from elephants.
And should never stay in the region where there is a stupid person.
