Dhamma for Lifestyle (2)

Laziness, the culprit of failure

Almost every body has some intention to accomplish in heart without speaking out.

# to be an educated person.
# to be wealthy.
# to have many good friends and followers.
# to be happy.
# to be a person with meritorious deeds.
# to attain Nibbana which is free from aging, illness and death etc.
Instead of trying to find out the real culprit of failure, people usually blame fate. Actually, laziness is the root of failure.
# because of laziness, one cannot gain knowledge.
# without knowledge a person is difficult to become wealthy.
# one who has no wealth cannot be expected to have many good friends and followers.
# one who has no good friend and follower will not be happy.
# unhappy person cannot gain merit.
# One who has no meritorious deed is way too far to attain      Nibbana.
Laziness is more fearful than burglars, robbers and wild animals. Also, it is very difficult to prevent from entering into a person. It will penetrate into one at any time and in any place. None of the security procedures is perfect to secure it. Laziness is like a chronic disease. It is an incurable disease which exists in the world for a longest time. It sticks in the body and tortures. It infects all people simultaneously. Hence, it can be regarded as an epidemic disease too.

People give excuses to avoid work, saying: “the weather is hot or cold”, “we are hungry or full” and “it is early or late”. These are the conditions that our older generation specified as “Six Laziness”. It is a relief that there are only six of them.

Having “mindfulness” is the only way to attack laziness. One with mindfulness knows that the life time is becoming shorter day by day. Also, realizes to do what one ought to do as quickly as possible. Precisely, that person will overcome laziness by perseverance.

Therefore, do uproot the culprit of failure, laziness by mindfulness. And do not be lazy.
