Dhamma for Lifestyle (4)

Sangaha-vatthu 4

Sangaha is the rule of good social relation. Such attributes_ respectful, lovable and honourable show the perfection of Sangaha. Those who follow the rules of good social relations will prosper. The whole world will be peaceful too if people do so. There are four Sangaha-vatthu:
1.Dana = Charity
2.Piyavaca = Kindness in speech
3.Atthacariya = Helpful action
4.Samanattata = Participation
Charity is the act of giving things. It can only be done by the non greedy person.

Kindness in speech is a Metta speech. One should speak with kindness when dealing with others. Only person with less anger can do this work.

Person who cherishes the welfare of others uses oneself for the world and is worthy to call wise and virtuous person.

It is not enough just to perform charity, kindness in speech and helpful action. One should also help others by participating in social occasion of joy or grief.

Non arrogant person related equally with others. So, one should be equal in dealing with others though they are different in wealth, power or class.

These four rules of good social relations supported the world like a linchpin which fetters the turning wheel of a carriage.

Even parents will be ignored by their own children if they fail to follow the rules of good social relations. Lord Buddha instructed that wise persons are noble and deserve to be honoured as they consider these rules.

Therefore, regardless of race, religion and age, may all people can practise these four rules of good social relations (Sangaha-vatthu) and make the world a peaceful one.
