Dhamma for Lifestyle (5)

Emulate Bees Rather Than Flies

Bees and flies are both insects. But they differ in their behaviour and are absolutely opposite.

Bees have objective, distribution, awareness and discipline. They unitedly make their hives and live together. With goal to collect in advance, bees suck nectar daily without fail. But they do not destroy the beauty and scent of flowers. Having discipline they carry nectar to their hives and store. Working together and sharing is their awareness.

Various bee-products show their good deed done for people. Their poison is only use to protect, not to harm. Even their poison are used for certain treatment. Way of bees are likable. People love, trust and thank bees which give many good examples. Also, praise them by citing them as example.

One can get Dana, Sila and Bhavana honey by sucking from the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha flowers. Those who collect Dhamma honey can face ageing, illness and death with smile. They are valuable persons too.

Flies are aimless creatures searching to get only. Have no discipline. They like to eat by chance and wander. Stay in a mess, dirty and throng noisily. Neither do good for themselves nor for environment. They are selfish, not sharing and have no awareness. People loathe and avoid flies though they do not have poison.

There are many flies-like people. They just eat and earn, then earn and eat without knowing that they are becoming old, useless and hopeless for Sasana. No body trust and rely upon them however they are rich. Finally, they have a miserable death.

Therefore, one should emulate bees to be a valuable person.
